Oxford PharmaGenesis™ provides sponsorship to league champions ClinPharm
ClinPharm compete in Thursday night's Soll (5-a-side) Super League, played locally down at Abingdon's Tilsley Park. With a sublime blend of medical sciences and maths genius, the core of the team originated from Oxford University's Department of Clinical Pharmacology (ClinPharm). With the addition of a solid defence and silky skills from team mates old and new, ClinPharm have had an amazingly successful 2007.
So far this year the team has a record of won 28, drawn 3 and lost only 1, enabling them to collect their third league title in a row. With the addition of the most professional looking shirts of any team in the league (a big thank you to Oxford PharmaGenesis™) ClinPharm look forward to more success in the remainder of 2007 and into the future.

Match Reports November
ClinPharm 1:1 Waitrose (1 Nov 07)
OCC 1:4 ClinPharm (8 Nov 07)
ClinPharm 4:1 Team Fitz (15 Nov 07)
Looking back on a shortened season, our correspondent reports, the most important results were the early 1:0 victory against Critchleys and a hard-fought
draw against Waitrose (despite ClinPharm missing several players). Following the latter of these games,
ClinPharm held a lead of only 3 points from Critchleys (who provided particularly strong competition this season, losing only 1 game),
and only two impressive wins against OCC and Team Fitz were enough to secure their fourth title in a row. Well done lads and Happy Christmas!
October 2007
Match Report (5 Oct 07) ClinPharm 5:0 Pie Eaters
ClinPharm started the new season as they finished the last, with a comprehensive 5:0 victory, this time beating Pie Eaters. With four quality goals from Bob Carlisle (x2), Radek Erban and Mark Stevenson, this game was effectively over by half time. Without their first-choice goal keeper (often the bedrock of narrow 1:0 victories) and offering little attacking threat, Pie Eaters rarely troubled the ClinPharm goal. Despite persistent second half pressure and creating several good chances, ClinPharm failed to find the net until late on when Carlisle duly completed his hat trick. With OCC beating league newcomers F.T.W 9:0, ClinPharm had to settle for second place in the table at this early stage of the season.
Match Report (11 Oct 07) ClinPharm 1:0 Critchleys
ClinPharm continued their good start, this time with a hard fought 1:0 win over old rivals Critchleys. Looking lethargic in the autumn gloom, the performance never reached the heights of last weeks display as the team struggled to make chances on goal. At the other end, ClinPharm had keeper Paul Farrow to thank for making several good saves to keep the score level. The breakthrough eventually came midway through the second half, when Chukwuemeka Ovuworie (rested last week) found the net - the ball just crossing the line despite the Critchleys keeper’s best efforts. Despite this poor performance, it was another win.
Match Report (18 Oct 07) ClinPharm 6:0 F.T.W
Absences through injury (Nick Hawke with a broken arm), international duty (Mark Stevenson away with work) and an accident on the M4 meant that ClinPharm started this game with only 5 players, no recognised defenders and an injured Dom Sweeney playing up front. They started slowly and could have been 2-0 down within the first couple of minutes, which would have been an embarrassment considering that the opposition had lost 9:0 two weeks earlier. However, ClinPharm eventually found their feet and with four goals from Robert Carlisle, and a brave performance from Sweeney, an edgy start turned into a convincing win.
Match Report (25 Oct 07) ClinPharm 8:0 Curry Kings
ClinPharm dominated this game with a scintillating display, and could easily have won more handsomely if it were not for a good display by the Curry Kings keeper. Two early strikes and a bizarre own goal gave them a deserved 3:0 half-time lead. The second-half blitz included two of the best goals you are likely to see at this level. The first was expertly created by Paul Atherfold who sold the last defender and keeper a dummy for Radek Erban to tap the ball in an empty net. The second was a 20 yard strike from an acute angle by Robert Carlisle, superbly bent around the keeper and in off the far post. By full time, Erban had scored four and ClinPharm had reached the half-way point in the season without conceding a goal.
