We are very pleased to welcome Becky Fox-Spencer, PhD, who joins our Oxford-based European team as a Senior Medical Writer.

Becky began her medical writing career in 2003, and has experience of working both in a Medical Communications environment and in a publishing house, writing manuscripts for academic journals and consumer health information books respectively.

Prior to training as a Medical Writer, Becky was a Caldwell Scholar at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, obtaining a First Class Honours BA in Natural Sciences in 2000. Becky was then awarded a Brain Research Trust Prize Studentship at University College London, completing her neurochemistry PhD in 2003.

Oxford PharmaGenesis™ continues expansion on both sides of the Atlantic.

We are pleased to welcome Paul Farrow DPhil from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Oxford. Paul joins our Oxford-based European Team as a Medical Writer. In addition to his DPhil, based on laboratory research at the University of Oxford, Paul has a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Toxicology from the University of Birmingham.

We are also very pleased indeed to welcome Jackie Membury to our Oxford Team where she will undertake the role of Project Administrator. Jackie has a strong secretarial and administration background and has five years of experience working in the Healthcare Communications business. Jackie will work primarily on project administration in the cardiovascular field and will also be part of the general admin support team.

In addition, we are delighted to welcome Alison Hillman, who has recently joined the Oxford Team as Production Editor in our expanded Production Department. Alison has a BA in Zoology from the University of Oxford. She has more than 20 years of specialist editorial and production experience in the field of international healthcare communications.

Laura Deno has also recently joined the US team as Project Coordinator. Qualified in Marketing and Management from Pennsylvania State University, Laura will work primarily on project administration.

Oxford PharmaGenesis™ is pleased to announce that fulltime in-house Communications Consultant, Dr Chris Winchester, has been appointed Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Aberdeen.


His research focuses on prescribing patterns in primary care and their relationship with government policy and patient outcomes.


Chris will undertake this work as part of the Oxford PharmaGenesis™ research programme aimed at achieving greater understanding of prescribing behaviour in primary care.

Jean has over 15 years of research, production and financial experience in the pharmaceutical and medical communications industries. Jean is excited to join the PharmaGenesis™ Inc team and looking forward to continuing the expansion of the operation in the US.

February 2004 ­ Oxford PharmaGenesis™ opens North American office

Oxford PharmaGenesis™ is delighted to announce their continued expansion with the launch of their first North American office. Located in Newtown , Pennsylvania , the operation will be spearheaded by Gordon Muir-Jones (Executive Vice President.

Through a combination of strategic medical marketing, lifecycle management, and clinical communications expertise, Oxford PharmaGenesis™ is one of the foremost global strategic healthcare consultancies.

Gordon has worked in domestic and international pharmaceutical markets for over 25 years. He originally joined Ciba-Geigy in the UK , progressing through a number of sales, sales management, and marketing roles over the next 10 years. Subsequent positions within the Mundipharma Group (Purdue Frederick) and Farmitalia Carlo Erba (now Pfizer) extended his experience across a range of therapeutic categories including cardiology, obstructive airways, analgesia and oncology. During this time, he was primarily responsible for multiple aspects of NPD and in-line marketing – including the development and implementation of launch strategies at both a national and international level. In 1989, Gordon left his role as UK Marketing Planning Manager at FCE to move into the service sector, working in the medical communications field with a variety of domestic and international clients in both Europe and the United States .

Over the last 15 years (10 of which have been based in the US ) Gordon has been engaged in the strategic development and subsequent implementation of both global and domestic communication initiatives. These have spanned numerous therapeutic categories for many major multinational clients. Prior to joining PharmaGenesis™, Gordon held a senior position within the US division of another global healthcare communications group and was responsible for the coordination of company resources to meet client needs across the major regions of North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. His experience includes the strategic team leadership of global accounts, requiring extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing at an international level. On several occasions he has also been the invited agency representative on the client's global brand team, offering strategic communications consultancy as required.


September 2002 – Oxford PharmaGenesis™ appoints Senior Partner

Oxford PharmaGenesis™ is delighted to announce their continued expansion with the appointment of Chris Thomas as Senior Partner in their pharmaceutical consultancy practice.

Chris, formerly Sales and Marketing Director at Astra UK, has 30 years’ national and international experience, including the launch and development of Losec and a number of other market-shaping pharmaceutical brands in the UK. He brings together his substantial hands-on and board-level expertise in sales and marketing with significant clinical and research experience gained at Roche and Bayer.

Chris joins Oxford PharmaGenesis™ from a senior global Customer Relationship Management role where he gained substantial additional experience in pharmaceutical consultancy, business process re-engineering, and the use of innovative e-sales and marketing techniques.

Chris’ main role will be to extend and develop the Oxford PharmaGenesis™ strategic consultancy practice. Working closely with Graham Shelton and the powerful in-house team of experienced medical writers, marketing and communication consultants, Chris will add his unique sales, marketing and business insights to their strong medical, scientific and communication skills.

Chris will work on a wide range of consultancy projects. These extend from strategic brand and business analysis and the development of innovative and effective brand and corporate communication plans, through to the implementation of change management programmes and business process re-engineering, both for major global pharmaceutical players as well as for more specialized biotech and boutique R&D companies.

January 2002 - Oxford PharmaGenesisTM appoints new Business Development Manager

Oxford PharmaGenesisTM is proud to announce the appointment of David Bennett BSc, MSc as Business Development Manager.

David, formerly Marketing Manager at Pharmacia, has 15 years of experience in sales and marketing and particular expertise in the promotion of specialist pharmaceuticals. He brings together substantial medical education and pharma industry experience.

Starting with Gower Medical Publishing in the late 1970s, David helped to develop a range of innovative educational/promotional aids for most of the major pharmaceutical players.

Since leaving Gower in 1986 he has held a variety of positions at local and international level during his time at Beecham and Pharmacia. During much of this time, David applied his knowledge of medical marketing techniques to the practical issue of meeting sales and marketing objectives.

In recent years he has been mainly involved in specialist pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He has developed particular expertise in market expansion and relationship marketing and is experienced in building effective links between marketing and sales

David's main role at Oxford PharmaGenesisTM is to work with the in-house team of experienced medical writers on the development of innovative and effective communication plans for client companies, adding his unique marketing insights to their strong medical, scientific and communications skills.
