Oxford PharmaGenesis was proud to represent HealthScience communication at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Summer Reception, held in the delightful setting of the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons in London on Monday 29 June. Commercial Director Dr Richard White was one of a select group of IoD members from around the country, who converged on the Houses of Parliament to hear talks from the IoD Director-General and Chairman, and from the current Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise. The event was also attended by a large number of MPs and some current and former UK Ministers of State, such as John Redwood, David Davies and Alan Duncan.

“It was a privilege to attend the IoD reception and to talk about HealthScience and medical communications with UK business leaders and decision-makers,” said Richard. “I was particularly pleased to have the opportunity to explain to a number of people the benefits that our industry brings to the communication of science and medicine. The general perception of professional medical writing remains somewhat negative, with most people I talked to mentioning potential concerns over ‘ghostwriting’ and the influence of pharma companies. We clearly need to do more as an industry to communicate the value of high-quality and transparent medical writing. We have conducted our own award-winning research demonstrating our industry’s value, and events like this are important venues for making our case.”
