Oxford PharmaGenesis at the first virtual Communiqué Awards
This year saw the first virtual edition of the Communiqué Awards, with Oxford PharmaGenesis strongly represented among a multitude of faces online, celebrating excellence in international healthcare communications. While the COVID-19 pandemic precluded the razzmatazz of the usual black-tie dinner and awards ceremony in London, the virtual event nevertheless continued the Communiqué mission to recognize work that has delivered real improvements in healthcare and patient experience, built trust among wider stakeholders and augmented the reputation of our industry over the past year.
One of the attendees from Oxford PharmaGenesis was Dr Richard White (Chief Operating Officer), in his role as Head Judge for the award ‘Best Use of Data Visualisation’ – one of two categories that were new to the 2020 awards. The introduction of this category is indicative of the wider importance of healthcare ‘big data’ and the application of data science and analytics to support decision-making. Specifically, the category recognized “the use of data visualisation in healthcare communications to explain complex data and/or analyses in a way that effectively conveys meaning and insights to healthcare professionals, patients or other key audiences”. The entry criteria required that eligible projects be examples of medical data communication (i.e. created/commissioned by a medical function), and not promotional, marketing or advertising visuals.
“It was great to see the Communiqué Awards acknowledge the growing importance of healthcare data visualization, and the team at Oxford PharmaGenesis was delighted to be involved with developing the criteria for the new award category,” said Dr White. “I would like to thank my judging panel for their time and for giving great insights from a range of perspectives. We were impressed by the number and quality of the submissions, several of which demonstrated that effective data visualization can have a real public health impact.”
Everyone at Oxford PharmaGenesis offers our warm congratulations to all of the award winners on the night, and to the organizers of the Communiqué Awards for their efforts in coordinating seamlessly the switch from face-to-face to virtual not only for the award ceremony itself, but also for all of the planning sessions and judging discussions. We look forward to further developments in 2021!
