Mental health for all. Greater investment – greater access. Everyone, everywhere.

Oxford PharmaGenesis is committed to ensuring good mental health and well-being for all of its employees, offering access to support services, training and other valuable resources. We also host a team of trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) who serve as a point of contact for any of our global colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to this level of support. As such, the World Federation for Mental Health is using this year’s World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, as a call to action to highlight the need for greater investment in mental health, particularly during the pandemic and its many repercussions, to ensure that no-one is left behind.

“The world is experiencing the unprecedented impact of the current global health emergency due to COVID-19 that has also impacted on the mental health of millions of people. We know that the levels of anxiety, fear, isolation, social distancing and restrictions, uncertainty and emotional distress experienced have become widespread as the world struggles to bring the virus under control and to find solutions. […] This bleak picture necessitates that we ensure that mental health is prioritized now more than ever before.”

Dr Ingrid Daniels, President: World Federation for Mental Health

In support, our MHFAs have created an internal video highlighting their personal tips for achieving good mental health, and worked with MIND to organize two interactive ‘Five Ways to Well-being’ online workshops for our global staff, with the funding of these being used to support the mental health of people across Oxfordshire. Additionally, given the mounting evidence that the pandemic disproportionately affects people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, we will be donating to the new mental health charity Black Minds Matter UK.
