The rapidly changing face of open access

Tuesday 23 January
13:25–14:10 and 14:15–15:00 GMT
Location: Cremant
Moderators: Amber Tear and Joana Osório from Oxford PharmaGenesis, in collaboration with members of Open Pharma

Open access has become the dominant model in scientific publishing; however, as its increased adoption transforms the publishing landscape, the sustainability and equity of the traditional open access business model are being questioned, and alternative models are emerging.

Join this roundtable at ISMPP Europe to discover how the conversation around open access is evolving and to explore publications options that maximize the impact of your content.

Amber, Joana and other valued members of Open Pharma will moderate a discussion on traditional and emerging open access models, copyright licenses and content ownership. You will feel better-equipped to choose between different publishing options and to advise publications and compliance colleagues about the implications of selecting each option. The roundtable group will also evaluate whether new ideas that are gaining traction in academia could be used by the pharmaceutical industry or specific companies.

Where are the data? A shared view on data sharing

Tuesday 23 January
13:25–14:10 and 14:15–15:00 GMT
Location: Cremant
Moderators: Kim Johnson and Vicky Sanders from Oxford PharmaGenesis, in collaboration with members of Open Pharma

Open sharing of research data is becoming increasingly mandated, recommended and expected by regulators, publishers and the public. Responsible data sharing increases the efficiency and reproducibility of the research process, reduces waste and promotes trust in the pharmaceutical industry, but data breaches have the opposite effect.

Most biomedical research journals now have data sharing requirements for publication.

Join this roundtable at ISMPP Europe to share your experiences with implementing journal data sharing policies when submitting industry-sponsored research for publication.

Kim, Vicky and other valued members of Open Pharma will discuss case studies of specific challenges, their outcomes and impact, and will explore how to minimize these challenges while promoting and supporting ethical and responsible data sharing.
