[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Today, the Right Honourable Edward Vaizey, local MP for Wantage, visited award-winning HealthScience communications consultancy Oxford PharmaGenesis to discuss the implications of Brexit for trade, education, research and health funding in Oxfordshire. In light of the recent referendum, Oxford PharmaGenesis, an independent international consultancy headquartered in Oxford, now faces new opportunities and challenges that will impact on its business and that of its clients.
“I was delighted to visit a very dynamic, independent company in my constituency today,” said Ed Vaizey. “In less than 20 years, the HealthScience communications consultancy Oxford PharmaGenesis has grown from a single person to an award-winning company of over 150 people, doubling every 5 years and exporting over 90% of its output.”
Skilled jobs
Dr Chris Winchester, Managing Director, stressed the importance to the UK of highly skilled jobs that generate substantial export earnings.
“We are proud that Oxford’s international reputation for science, medicine and English-language communication attracts clients from all over the world to our door,” comments Dr Winchester.
Export earnings
Oxford PharmaGenesis won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Outstanding Achievement in International Trade in 2015. The company employs 110 people at its headquarters in Tubney, including 44% with doctorates in the biosciences, plus many skilled project managers and allied communications professionals.
“Our employees are proud to help clients in the biopharmaceutical industry turn scientific breakthroughs into patient benefits,” says Dr Richard White, Commercial Director, “and Mr Vaizey’s visit is a welcome endorsement of our approach”. The company recently created a patient engagement practice to consolidate its expertise in the area.
Health policy
Oxford PharmaGenesis appreciated the opportunity to discuss health policy with Mr Vaizey. The company is currently spinning off its policy arm, the Oxford Health Policy Forum, as an independent not-for-profit organization.
