Teams across the Oxford PharmaGenesis offices have been celebrating Pi Day after more than 100 of us registered with ORCID, joining a community of over 3.14 million people who share the vision of transparency and trust in research and innovation.
An author’s name is not unique, can change with marriage and may be used inconsistently in the scientific literature. By contrast, an ORCID author identification number (https://orcid.org) is unique and its use is authenticated, making it easier for our peers to identify who they are collaborating with, reducing the risk of research fraud and driving greater transparency and trust.
ORCID is being adopted across research funding and publishing, and Oxford PharmaGenesis is proud that 90% of our writers have now registered with ORCID. This has been achieved thanks to the great work of Hannah Woodley and Ellie Collins, who have spent the past week raising awareness of ORCID across the PharmaGenesis offices.
Enjoying a miniature lemon meringue pie, Communications Director Paul Farrow (@Paul_MedComms) added, “We have been exploring how we can help to drive positive evolution in scientific publishing – ORCID was highlighted as a really valuable initiative at a recent multi-stakeholder meeting organized by Oxford PharmaGenesis and attended by representatives of pharma, publishing, academia, regulators and medical societies”.
Through engagement with ORCID and other forward-looking initiatives, Oxford PharmaGenesis is well placed to contribute to the drive towards transparency and trust in scientific publishing.
